The Gono Bishwabidyalay Journalist Association (GBJA) recently hosted a workshop titled “Visual Storytelling: The Art of Photojournalism” at its campus office.

The two-hour session, held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, brought together a diverse group of students, teachers, and photography enthusiasts. Participants included members of the Gono Bishwabidyalay Photographic Society (GBPS) and representatives from various reader forums, including Prothom Alo Bondhushava and Ajker Patrika’s Pathakbondhu.

The workshop was conducted by Rafiqur Rahman Raqu, Chief Photo Editor of Dainik Amar Desh. During the practical sessions, Raqu taught participants essential photography techniques, including framing, composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.

Muzahidul Islam Nirob, president of the GBJA, emphasized that photojournalism is more than simply capturing images.

“It is a powerful way to share reality, emotion, and history,” Nirob said. “A single news photograph can instantly deliver an important message to society. These events help students develop the practical skills and creativity they need for the future.”

He also said the GBJA would continue organizing similar skill-development programs for students.

The event ended with a Q&A session, where participants discussed the challenges of modern news photography and shared their experiences. Attendees left with a better understanding of professional news documentation through photography.
